What is an All-on-4 implant?

Pro Arch / All-on-4/ Teeth-in-a-day is a procedure to replace multiple missing teeth in your mouth. Four implants are surgically placed in the dental arch where the teeth are missing and a denture is then attached to it.

All-on-4 is a safe and predictable solution that provides a fixed set of teeth in a single day.

What is All-on-4?

The All-on-4 procedure was invented by Dr Paulo Malo in the 1990s in Portugal.

The All-on-4 treatment is an approach that uses 4-6 dental implants (straight or tilted), permitting the provision of immediate fixed bridges for edentulous patients - despite limited bone availability. This protocol has become a popular procedure worldwide.

Bridge replacement

4-6 months after surgery, the bridge is replaced with a MALO DENTAL Acrylic bridge - this includes a titanium frame with acrylic teeth.

Note: At Nuffield All-on-4 DentalClinics, we prefer either the Malo Dental Acrylic Bridge (standard) or the Malo Dental Ceramic Bridge (Premium) as the final All-on-4 restorative option as it has optimal aesthetics and durability.

Note on different materials for your All-on-4 bridge

During the process towards making your final bridge we will use
wax teeth to confirm the size, shape of the teeth and your bite position. It is imperative at this stage that you also participate in the customisation of this wax teeth setup as this will form the basis of the MALO DENTAL bridge that will be made via CAD/ CAM techniques.

All patients must be
aware of the limitations of materials and the costs related to All-on-4 bridge construction. The final MALO DENTAL All-On-4 bridges are made with Acrylic or Zirconia, the choice may be made based on cost or clinical limitations.

The Acrylic bridge tends to wear faster. However the Zirconia or MALO DENTAL Ceramic Bridge is a much harder wearing material and aesthetically superior. The Ceramic Bridges are stunningly thin compared to the Acrylic Bridge. However, the ceramic layer may chip or fracture, especially if the biting forces (occlusion) is not analysed and adjusted.

At MALO DENTAL Singapore we
avoid using PMMA for the temporary bridge as PMMA is a porous material that is prone to stains.
